Submitting MTD ITSA Through Andica Using an Existing 64-8 Authorisation

A 64-8 authorisation by itself does not automatically enable Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment (MTD ITSA) submissions.

An existing 64-8 authorisation can be used for MTD ITSA provided the Self Assessment authorisation has been added to your Agent Services Account and the client has been signed up for MTD ITSA

MTD ITSA uses HMRC's Agent Services Account framework. Agents must have the relevant authorisations available within their Agent Service Account before they can interact with MTD ITSA services.

If you are submitting MTD ITSA returns for your client as an Agent, then follow the steps below.

  1. Go to HMRC Authentication and Connect to HMRC as an Agent.
  2. Go to Agent Authorisation and enter the agent details and save it.
  3. Click Request Client Approval to send an authorisation request to the client.
  4. The client will receive an email containing an approval link, which is valid for 21 days.
  5. If the client does not receive the email, copy the link displayed under Client Authorisation Invitation Link and send it to them directly.
  6. 6. Once the client approves the authorisation, you will be able to retrieve their income sources and quarterly obligations.
